We took up reading Cayce’s Story of the Bible again this week and the big lesson was that we are our brother’s keeper, which led to a good discussion on the immigrant and refugee problem facing the world. In the book we started at Part Three, “From Solomon’s Glories to the Birth of Jesus,” on page 367. We then proceeded on to “Foreword: World Affairs and the Bible,” “Introduction: The Coming is from Within,” “Solomon’s Sins,” “Benaiah,” and “Coronation and Rebellion.” Next week we will pick up at “To Your Tents, O Israel!” on page 382.

We did not read any of Cayce’s Story of the Bible tonight. Instead, we voted on whether to proceed with the book or go to something else. The vote was we continue with the book and take occasional breaks. So tonight we read a section about the Essenes from the book The Edgar Cayce Reader.

In Cayce’s Story of the Bible, we started with “The Kingdom Within” on page 350, and read “Portrait of a King” and “Another Dream.” We are currently at “Pages of Wisdom” on page 355. We had some discussion on whether to continue with the book, or possibly take breaks or diversions while continuing on with the book. Although no vote was taken, it appeared that most wanted to continue on, but we have been asked to think about it another week.

As a kind of experiment, we were directed to think about what the story of Solomon means to us personally.

We started Chapter 16 and read “Abner” and “A Man After God’s Heart.” We are currently on page 328 at “The Pattern of a Life.”

Next week John will bring a computer and a DVD of “The Divine Matrix” for us to watch.

In Cayce’s Story of the Bible, we finished the Book of Judges by reading “Jephthah’s Vow” and “Samson.” Before starting “The Book of Ruth” in the Cayce book, Nancy read the entire Book of Ruth from the Bible to give us perspective. We read the introduction in Ruth, and up to “Boaz” on page 260.

Martinaya suggested a discipline for the week. As we meet others, seek to see God in each of them. Whether they be panhandlers, or less fortunate, realize that each comes from the one Source.

Nancy continued to push us through the Joshua material and into Caleb’s family history. We started with the “Treaties with the Pagans: Joshua Deceived” on page 229. By the end of the evening, we were through Joshua, and up to the Book of Judges on page 245. Since the Book of Judges is fairly small and filled with short stories, John recommends that we read it at home before the next meeting.

We read Exodus Chapter 16 (manna from heaven) and Chapter 32 (the golden calf) from the Bible. We then opened Cayce’s Story of the Bible and read “A Discussion” on pages 126-128. We are now at the next section, “Pharoah’s Hard Heart.”
